Louisiana rapper B.G. (real name Christopher Dorsey) could face up to 10 years in federal prison for his 2009 gun charges.
The charges came on Nov. 3, 2009 when the emcee left his girlfriend's home in Uptown New Orleans. A police officer pulled B.G. over, in his Chevy Tahoe for a routine traffic stop. The officer searched the vehicle and found three guns. Two of those guns were reported stolen. Along with the guns, police found loaded magazines and two clips.
B.G. reported to court two days later and pleaded his innocence, saying that the weapons belonged to Demounde Pollard. Pollard then signed a false affidavit which claimed that the guns didn't belong to B.G. Friend Jerod Fedison and Pollard pleaded guilty in federal court for involvement in the conspiracy.
According to a press release from U.S. Attorney Jim Letten, B.G. is charged with a three-count indictment. This includes charges for possession of a firearm while being a felon, and creating a conspiracy to interfere with justice.
The potential prison sentence comes at a bad time for B.G. The rapper recently reconciled his differences with Birdman and Cash Records in 2010 after their financial dispute nine years before.
B.G. left Cash Records in 2001 to build his own record label Chopper City Records, which later changed to Chopper City Music. Since the beginning of the label's existence, B.G. has recorded seven albums, two of which were with the Chopper City Boyz.
In the 90's B.G. ran with the Hot Boys. Consisting of Lil Wayne, Turk and Juvenile, the Hot Boys released three albums from 1997 to 2003.
